This game works very simply. Each post, you can pick someone to "be your partner" and "cross the finish line" with you. Crossing the finish line makes them safe. The last person to finish will be eliminated. You continue until one person wins. So if you want to keep a guy around, you have to cross the finish line with them so that they're safe.

To preserve fairness, there will be no double (or more) posting, obviously. Make sure you remove them from the eligible partners list and add them to the safe list.
